Event Report - Nashville 8/10/2007 |
 |
TTT Member, Jean Grainger, attended the 15th Anniversary Celebration Event in Nashville. Here is her report!
|
Here is my report on the Nashville Event (July 27 & 28, 2007). I had a good time and enjoyed myself. I saw more people I knew at this event and met some new friends. The doors to the event opened at 4:30 pm. As we came in the door we checked in and received our name lanyard, tote bag, tee shirt, pin, and insulated bottle/can cover. Dinner was a buffet. Meat choices were roast beef, breaded boneless pork loin, or teriyaki chicken. There were roasted red potatoes, green beans, cole slaw, potato salad, pasta salad, tossed salad greens, and yeast rolls. Desserts were cheese cake, chocolate fudge pie, or pecan pie. Coffee, iced tea, and water to drink.
Names were drawn and volunteers were taken to play Jeopardy. There were four rounds and then the winners from each of the four rounds had a play off. Ellen Gawthorp was the grand prize winner. Jeremy was her prize and each of the four finalists won a Benji. There was a costume contest after Jeopardy. Mary (Patti) Haxton won that. Patti was dressed as Lelani. Others were dressed as Deanna, red hat lady, and Tammy. Patti chose an 9" Alice as her prize and then she traded one of the other contestants for the nativity musical. I think two of the other prizes were a 5th anniversary piece and a circus set. Cisco (DJ) and Colleen (assistant) were at this event also (had previously been at the Valley Forge event). Cisco entertained us with jokes and karaoke. One of the attendees did a nice job at karaoke. Several people danced.
Saturday morning started with the swap & sell. There were 6 or 7 tables. I purchased several items myself and saw a lot of other good buys. Breakfast was your choice of bacon or sausage patties. There were scrambled eggs, hash browns, biscuits & gravy. There was fresh fruit, fruit juices, bagels & cream cheese, danish, and coffee. Morning break was cookies and lemonade. The were sugar cookies, snicker doodles, chocolate chip, and some chocolate fudgey cookies. We also had a variety of those pretty little pressed cookies in a rainbow of colors. We played bingo. We each got two cards. You could bingo twice each game once on each card. Some of the prizes were signed.
Lunch was a buffet. We chose from lasagna or ham. We also chose a yeast roll or an Italian bread stick with cheese. There was cheesy broccoli rice casserole and a variety of salads - pasta, potato, coleslaw, and tossed green salad. We had a pretty pink cake with roses for dessert. Later we had vanilla ice cream with lots of topping to go on it at a top your own sundae bar. We played some more bingo. We got a sneak peak at some Cherished Teddies coming out. We filled out a survey and as we left we turned in our survey for a parting gift. We also did a marketing survey on what we thought of new teddies and what we would pay for them.
Cheryl from KP Partners was there. Several people from Enesco attended, including Debbie. Her husband Nick came and surprised her and he helped out. There was an event piece on each table. It started out with the person whose birthday was closest to the event and ended with it being at the person for spaces to the right of the first person.
Enesco had a table at the swap & sell. The items available in Enesco's archive sale were:
#310735 - Lynn - $25.00
#308676 - Sarah - $30.00
#292575 - White Christmas Musical - $45.00
#132993 - Jack & Jill Clock - $50.00
#205354 - Annie, Brittany, Colby, Danny, & Ernie - $75.00
#131865 - Kittie - $17.50
#447893 - Glenn - $35.00
#624918 - Teddy & Roosevelt - $20.00
#103734, #107700, #103977, #103721, & #103713 - Circus Set - $80.00
There were also extra event pieces and pins available to purchase by event attendees.
#4008961N - Alissa - $35.00
#CT Lapel Pin - $5.00
Available for order for later delivery were the 15th Anniversary Celebration Tapestry pieces with Alissa depicted on them.
CT Celebration Throw - $45.00
CT Celebration Banner - $15.00
CT Celebration Pillow - $25.00
The Nashville event was lots of fun!
Bear hugs.

Event Report - Valley Forge 8/10/2007 |
 |
TTT Member, Jean Grainger, attended the 15th Anniversary Celebration in Valley Forge. Here is her report!
|

I had a good time and enjoyed myself at the Valley Forge event June 22nd & 23rd. The doors opened at 4:30 pm on Friday. I think the plan was for everyone to register and pick up their figurines and goodies and then return at 6:00 pm for dinner. We received a tote bag, pin, drink holder, lanyard, T-shirt and Alissa event figurine with a "Valley Forge" flag on it. The tables were set up for dinner so people sat down early. It gave everyone a chance to visit though it wasn't in the plan.
Dinner wasn't a buffet (it was served). We started with a salad. The entree was chicken picatta with roasted potatoes and green beans. Dessert was chocolate cake with whipped cream. There was a contest for those who dressed as Cherished Teddies. I think there were about 8 people who dressed up. I think the prizes were the boxed Thanksgiving set and the Romeo & Juliet set.
There was a DJ and dance. The DJ also did jokes, sang and karaoke. He had several people along to assist him and two of them each sang a song. He stopped around 9:30 pm and everyone who hadn't already left trickled out after that.
Saturday morning started around 8:30 am with a continental breakfast and swap & sell. The continental breakfast had hot tea, cocoa, and coffee. There were numerous juices; cranberry, grapefruit, apple, orange, tomato, and maybe more. There were various bagels, cream cheese, and danish. There were four tables for the swap & sell. I did manage to find a few things to purchase.
There also was a Cherished Teddies archive sale with an opportunity to pre-purchase exclusive events items. A CT Celebration Throw ($45.00), Banner ($15.00), and Pillow ($25.00). These all have the event piece Alissa on them with a blank flag. We were also able to purchase extra Valley Forge Alissa event pieces ($35.00) and event pins ($5.00). There was a limit of two per person until everyone had an opportunity to purchase any they wanted. There was also an event piece on each table. The person with the birthday closest to the event at each table won that.
The items that were available to purchase instantly in the archive sale were:
#175560 - We Give Thanks Collectors Set - $85.00
#900362 - Abigail - $16.00
#910767 - Marie - $20.00
#269832 - Jordan - $25.00
#869082 - "Heart to Heart / My Love" - 2 pieces - $18.50
#950718 - Richard, Edward, Wilbur - $60.00
#3269840 - Joann - $25.00
#CRT025 - Priscilla Ann - $50.00
#916447 - Kathleen - $12.50
#916447 - Jean - $25.00
These items were also used as bingo prizes and parting gifts.
We played bingo as our game. Items from the archive sale and other older CTs were prizes. Some of the Cherished Teddies used as prizes were signed. Saturday lunch was a buffet. There were various salads; lettuce, potato, cole slaw, pasta, and maybe more. The entrees were chicken in a cream sauce and meatloaf. There were mashed potatoes, green beans, and rolls. There was a variety of desserts. After the meal was finished there was a make your own ice cream sundae bar. Different flavors of ice cream, toppings, and sprinkles were available (which went along with the event figurine theme).
After lunch we got a sneak peek of Cherished Teddies coming out, including pictures and artwork. Everyone filled out a survey. We also had a CT discussion. We discussed what we like & don't, what we would like to see changed or stay the same, etc. The games included more bingo. We each got a parting gift as we left of two figurines, Cindy and Kathleen. Debbie from Enesco was at the event, and so was Cheryl was from KP Partners.
